Recruiting Strategies:

  • Weekly posting for help
  • Using your team to experience-share and advocate volunteering/fostering (Use Team Building Posts)
  • Share all content from Volunteer/Foster Perspective, not 3rd person (walking a dog, watching tv with dog, playing in the yard, day trips, etc).

Adoption Strategies:

  • Slow down posting of dogs to prevent limelight fatigue
  • Cut application WAY down – limit to a max of 7-10 questions then schedule CONVERSATIONS.  Do NOT post “no cats, no kids, exercise schedule required” on each post, you may as well write “DO NOT ADOPT” on every post.  If cannot be with children, make 1 of the 10 questions say “Since WAMAL values the lives of dogs and cats equally, if you currently have cats, it is in their best interest to adopt another breed which is not as genetically driven to snack on small critters.  To learn more about Malamute’s behavioral predisposition click here: (and provide an accredited, breed specific link that emphasizes prey drive”.
    • It is preferred to engage 30 potential adopters and ignore 5 than to make every very decent potential adopter reading your posts apprehensive immediately.
  • Offer different “First Person Perspectives” of ownership of Floof ownership, promoted by Floof Friends
  • Give Dogs Floof-related last names to lighten the mood.  ie, Kanga McFloofus
  • Emphasize Professional Support post-adoption

Social Media Strategies:

  • Shift all narratives from verbous, adopter begging and projected insecurities oversharring (Remember, Dating Apps Profiles – cute photo and a name is good!) to 1-3 sentence draw in phrases with the focus on the Headshot/Boop-shot photos of dogs with access to Floof Friends to further discuss behavioral profiles and suitability

Team Building – Opportunities:

  • Cut application WAY down on Foster Apps – limit to a max of 7-10 questions then schedule CONVERSATIONS. Meet with entire team to discuss re-vamping of WAMAL and get motivated again
  • Brainstorm beneficial Volunteer/Foster Opportunities
  • Create FUN & EDUCATIONAL opportunities to spark interest in volunteering, fostering and adopting
  • Shift Mandatory Insurance Training Narrative to: “Fosters are provided with up front training and ongoing professional support”

Team Building -Communication:

  • Create a better communication source for your team.
    • Look into #Slack and create appropriate resource channels or
    • Facebook Groups and use the Announcements, Events & Files Tabs.
  • Integrate all communication platforms with Canva.

Team Development – Dogly:

  • Share Sign Up Link with Volunteers & Fosters and explain Dogly as a Development & Support resource for them.

Adopter Resource Development:

  • Create an Adopters Private Facebook Group and begin recruiting adopters to it.  Explain the purpose of it to be a resource and support group plus fun updates community!
