Two weeks before a Facebook users birthday, Facebook promotes a message in their news feed giving them the option to create a Birthday Fundraiser. In just a few clicks, they can set up a donation request as a way of celebrating their special day. As long as you are registered as a Charity with Facebook, you will be listed as an eligible organization to receive donations if requested!
As part of the Birthday Fundraiser Strategy, your organization will be just one step ahead of the Fundraiser pop up on Facebook. By creating an automated “Early Birthday” email that goes out two weeks and a day, willing supporters will be ready to use the fundraiser instead of dismissing it! While that seems simple, there is a bit more to it. This includes normalizing the use of birthday fundraisers by posting every month about them on your social platform, having this opportunity in newsletters as a gentle reminder and also making a “Big Deal” about those who ARE donating through this opportunity.
