COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

STRATEGIC INTENTIONS

Building relationships start with your online presence, often the first impression of your organization to a potential supporter.  Community Engagement is a strategic plan to share the happenings of your efforts with your “online team, making them feel included, aligned and involved in your mission.  The more connected online supporters feel to your organization, the more likely they are to take the next step and become an invested supporter – transitioning from virtual supporter to ACTUAL supporter (meaning they donate, become a volunteer or foster, adopter, etc).

In addition, your messaging should include “giving back” resources to current and potential pet owners, encouraging them to feel supported through struggles they might endure or are currently experiencing as pet owners.  It’s all about shifting the current stigma of animal welfare away from transactional “have dog – adopt dog” relationships to long term involvement, educational resources, learning opportunities and connection prior to and after adoption.
